Quick answer: yes, the Australian Caramilk is certified
Cadbury's halal page lists Cadbury Caramilk, Twirl Caramilk and the Caramilk Wallaby as certified by Halal Certification Authority Australia. That covers products made for Australia and New Zealand, not imports, and not every Caramilk spin-off.
What Does Cadbury Say About Caramilk and Halal?
Cadbury says Caramilk is certified halal. Its halal page, which we read on 31 October 2026, opens with this and then lists the certified products, Caramilk among them:
“The below listed products have been certified halal by Halal Certification Authority Australia. This list applies to products manufactured for the Australian & New Zealand markets.”
Cadbury Australia: Halal
The Caramilk items named on the list that day were Cadbury Caramilk, Cadbury Twirl Caramilk and Cadbury Caramilk Wallaby. Cadbury adds that the listed products also stand for the matching mini versions found in Cadbury Favourites variety packs.
Why Does Caramilk Need a Certificate at All?
Because of one ingredient: emulsifier 476. Caramilk is milk, sugar, cocoa butter, milk solids, emulsifiers (soy lecithin and 476) and flavour, and 476 is halal only when it is made from plant sources, which a label rarely says.
A certificate settles that, because the certifier checks the source. Without one, an ingredient reading alone cannot clear 476, which is why the same recipe can read as doubtful on a pack nobody has certified.
Read how we classify it on the E476 page.

Which Caramilk Products Are Not Covered?
Anything made for another country, and any Caramilk product that is not on Cadbury's list. The list only applies to products made for Australia and New Zealand, so an imported bar is outside it however similar it looks.
Caramilk has also spread into other products, such as a Biscoff block, ice creams and an Oreo biscuit. None of those was named on Cadbury's chocolate list when we read it, so each needs its own evidence.

- Cadbury Caramilk Wallaby
- Their minis in Cadbury Favourites packs

How Do You Check a Caramilk Pack on HalalHQ?
Open it on HalalHQ or scan its barcode. A Caramilk pack we have matched to Cadbury's halal list shows Certified, with HCAA as the certifier and Cadbury's page as the evidence.
A pack we have not matched shows what its ingredients alone can tell us, which for Caramilk is doubtful, because of 476. That is not a finding against the chocolate; it means the certificate has not been tied to that exact barcode yet.
Does HalalHQ Flag Cadbury for Boycott?
Yes. Our Cadbury product pages carry a boycott note about Mondelez International, which owns Cadbury. That is a separate question from halal status: a product can be certified halal and still be one some people choose not to buy.
The boycott note and the halal verdict sit side by side on each product page, so you can weigh both.

HalalHQ is independently built and free for the whole community, with no ads and nothing behind a paywall. If this saved you a phone call or a doubtful meal, a small contribution helps cover the servers and data that keep it running.
The Verdict: Can Muslims Eat Caramilk?
Yes, for the Caramilk made for Australia and New Zealand, on Cadbury's own statement that Halal Certification Authority Australia certifies it. The same goes for Twirl Caramilk and the Caramilk Wallaby.
For an imported bar or a Caramilk spin-off not on the list, check the pack or the product page first. Cadbury's list changes, so it is worth a look when a new flavour arrives.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cadbury Caramilk halal?
Yes, in Australia. Cadbury's halal page lists Cadbury Caramilk among the products certified halal by Halal Certification Authority Australia, for products made for the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Who certifies Cadbury Caramilk halal?
Halal Certification Authority Australia (HCAA), according to Cadbury's own halal page.
Is Caramilk Twirl halal?
Yes. Cadbury Twirl Caramilk is on Cadbury's halal list, and so is the Cadbury Caramilk Wallaby.
Is imported Caramilk halal?
Not on Cadbury Australia's word. Its list applies to products manufactured for the Australian and New Zealand markets, so a Caramilk bar made for another country is outside it. Check the pack for a halal mark instead.
Is Caramilk Biscoff halal?
It was not named on Cadbury's halal list when we read it on 31 October 2026, and its ingredients include emulsifier 476, which is halal only when made from plant sources. Our product page shows it as doubtful until there is a certificate for it.
Are Caramilk ice creams and Oreo Caramilk halal?
They are not on Cadbury's chocolate halal list, so that list does not answer it. Open each product on HalalHQ for its own verdict and evidence.
