Is Mixue Halal in Australia?
Mixue holds halal certification in Malaysia. We could not find any for its Australian stores. Here is what that means, and what to ask before you order.

Is Mixue halal in Australia?
Not halal certified in Australia, as far as we can find. We looked for an Australian halal certificate, an Australian certifier's register entry, and a clear statement from Mixue Australia about who certifies its stores, and found none of the three. Mixue's Australian website carries the words halal milk tea and ice cream in its page title, but nothing we could find on the site explains what that rests on.
That is different from saying Mixue is not halal. Mixue sells ice cream, soft serve, bubble tea, fruit teas and slushies. There is no pork on the menu, and we found no alcohol in the Australian range. Most of what makes a drink or a soft serve halal or not comes down to ingredients like gelatine, emulsifiers and flavourings, and nobody we could find has checked those for the Australian stores.
So our honest answer is unclear, with no Australian certification found. Not haram, and not confirmed halal either. Below is why the Malaysian certificate does not settle it, and what to ask in store.
Doesn't Mixue have JAKIM halal certification?
Yes, in Malaysia, and only in Malaysia. In December 2025 Mixue's Malaysian business announced that more than 100 of its Malaysian outlets had received halal certification from JAKIM, Malaysia's Department of Islamic Development, as reported by Malaysiakini. The outlets named are in Melaka, Johor, Kedah, Perlis, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Perak, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. No Australian store is mentioned, and JAKIM does not certify premises outside Malaysia.
This is where most of the confusion comes from. Someone who knew Mixue as a halal brand in KL or Johor sees the same logo in Sydney or Melbourne and assumes the certificate came with it. It did not. The Malaysian certification was issued outlet by outlet to Malaysian stores, for a Malaysian supply chain.
The company's own statement said every outlet is required to go through the certification procedure. In Australia that cuts the other way: the Australian stores would need their own certificate, from an Australian certifier, and we could not find one.
Why doesn't overseas halal certification cover Australian stores?
Because a halal certificate is issued to a premises and its supply chain, not to a brand name. When a certifier signs off on an outlet, it is signing off on where that outlet's milk, cream, syrups, toppings and flavourings come from, how they are stored and who handles them. A store in Sydney buys from Australian suppliers, or imports through a different chain, and a Malaysian certifier has never inspected any of it.
The same rule applies to every international chain. Halal certified overseas tells you the brand is willing and able to run a halal operation, which is genuinely useful to know. It does not tell you the store in front of you is running one. In Australia, halal certification is done by independent certifiers, and a certificate names the certifier, the store and an expiry date.
If a Mixue store in Australia has been certified, that certificate should be on the wall or available at the counter. That is the thing to ask for, not the Malaysian announcement.

Does Mixue sell anything with pork or alcohol?
We found no pork, and no alcohol in the Australian range. Mixue's menu is drinks and ice cream: soft serve cones and sundaes, milk teas with pearls, fruit teas, lemonades and slushies. There is nothing meat based on it, which is why the halal question for Mixue is an ingredients question rather than a slaughter question.
The ingredients worth asking about are the ones that trip up ice cream and bubble tea everywhere. Gelatine can appear in soft serve, jellies and some toppings. Some flavourings and syrups are carried in alcohol. Some overseas Mixue markets have run limited items with liquor flavours, and while we found none of those in Australia, it shows the range is not automatically alcohol free everywhere.
We have not done an ingredient audit of the Australian stores. Nothing here should be read as a clean bill, only as what we did and did not find.
What should you ask at a Mixue store?
Ask whether the store holds an Australian halal certificate, and who issued it. If the answer is yes, ask to see it: it should name the certifier, the premises and an expiry date. If the answer is a shrug, or a reference to the Malaysian certificate, you have your answer for that store.

That leaves you with a personal call. Many Muslims are comfortable buying a fruit tea or a plain soft serve from a store with no pork and no obvious alcohol, and ask about gelatine as they go. Others want a certificate before they buy anything. Both are reasonable, and the questions above are how you get the information to decide.
