Quick answer: yes, with one check

Lilydale says its chicken is halal accredited by AFIC. Its crumbed, marinated and seasoned products may or may not use halal-certified ingredients, so for those, find the product on Lilydale's halal list first.

What Does Lilydale Say About Halal?

Lilydale says its chicken is halal accredited by the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils. That is its answer to “Are Lilydale products Halal?” on its FAQ page, which we read on 2 November 2026. In full:

“Yes, Lilydale chicken is Halal accredited by the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC). However, our value added products (Lilydale chicken which is crumbed, marinated or seasoned) may include ingredients which may or may not be Halal certified. Lilydale FAQ: Are Lilydale products Halal?

Which Lilydale Products Are Halal?

The ones on Lilydale's halal list, which the FAQ links to. The list is headed “Halal Certified Products”, marked “Updated October 2025” and “AFIC audit annually”. It names fresh cuts, whole chickens, two hot roasts, whole turkey, and a set of freezer and chilled lines by name and pack size.

So the catch in the FAQ is narrower than it sounds. Several crumbed products are on the list, such as Chicken Breast Schnitzel in Homestyle Crumb 400g and Chicken Breast Strips in Ciabatta Crumb 400g. A value added product that is not on the list is the one Lilydale cannot vouch for.

Covered by Lilydale's list

  • Fresh cuts, such as breast fillets, thigh fillets, drumsticks, wings, tenderloins and mince
  • Whole chickens, the two named hot roasts, and whole turkey
  • The crumbed and freezer lines named on the list, such as the schnitzels and Hot Honey Tenders

Not covered, so check first

  • A crumbed, marinated or seasoned product that is not on the list
  • A pack whose name you cannot find on the list
  • Another brand packed in a similar tray

How Do You Check a Lilydale Pack on HalalHQ?

Open it on HalalHQ or scan its barcode. Every Lilydale product we have matched to the October 2025 list shows Certified, with AFIC as the certifier and the list as the evidence.

A pack we have not matched shows what its ingredients alone can tell us, which for chicken is usually unknown. That is not a finding against the product; it means the list has not been tied to that exact pack yet, so check the list for its name.

Does Lilydale Say How Its Chicken Is Slaughtered?

No. Lilydale names its certifier but says nothing about the slaughter or stunning method in its halal answer, so we do not either.

If that matters to you, ask AFIC or Lilydale directly. Our guide to whether all Australian chicken is halal explains how chicken is usually processed in Australia and where certifiers take different views.

Free range is not a halal mark

A free range claim is about how birds are farmed, not how they are slaughtered. The same goes for the EST number; our guide to reading the EST code explains what it does and does not tell you.

HalalHQ is independently built and free for the whole community, with no ads and nothing behind a paywall. If this saved you a phone call or a doubtful meal, a small contribution helps cover the servers and data that keep it running.

The Verdict: Can Muslims Buy Lilydale?

Yes for Lilydale chicken, on Lilydale's own statement that AFIC accredits it, and yes for any crumbed, marinated or seasoned product on its halal list. For a value added product that is not on the list, Lilydale itself cannot promise the ingredients are certified.

The quickest habit is to check the product page or the list before you buy something new, because the list is updated and products come and go.
