The Islamic New Year is almost here. 1 Muharram 1448 is expected on Tuesday 16 June, subject to moonsighting, so depending on your local mosque the new year may begin on the 16th or 17th. Muharram is one of the four sacred months, and the new year is a quiet marker of the Hijrah rather than a festival.
