Is the food at the MCG halal?
Some of it is, and the MCG publishes the list itself. Its dietary information page carries a section headed Halal Food Options, sitting alongside vegetarian, vegan, low gluten and pescatarian, and it names specific dishes and the exact outlets and bay numbers that sell them. That is more than most stadiums do, and it means you can plan a bay before you arrive rather than walking the concourse hoping.
The important limit: the MCG does not name a certifier anywhere on that page. So the list is the venue telling you which items it considers halal, not a certification you can inspect. If that matters to you, and for many families it does, the page itself tells you to speak to staff at any outlet about dietary requirements. It is worth doing at the counter before you order.

The same page also carries a separate allergen notice saying some items contain non-halal ingredients, which is a good reminder that the halal list is a specific set of items rather than a description of the whole ground.
Where can I pray at the MCG?
On Level B1 of the Shane Warne Stand, at roughly M13. The MCG calls it the Multi-Faith Prayer Room, it is open during events, and no booking is needed. It holds more than 50 people at once across about 100 square metres, and the MCG says it is reachable from anywhere in the stadium no matter where your seat is.
Three details make it genuinely usable rather than a token quiet room. The bathrooms have wudu units installed, so you can make ablution in the same space you are about to pray in. The room can separate men and women with a screen, and the bathrooms cater for both. And the prayer areas are already oriented towards the Ka'abah, so you are not standing in a stadium basement working out the qibla off your phone.
It is a shared multi-faith space, not a masjid, and it replaced a smaller room in the Ponsford Stand. Because it is an event day facility, it is not somewhere to plan around outside of a match.

What time is the 2026 AFL Grand Final?
Saturday 26 September 2026 at 2:30pm AEST, at the MCG. An afternoon bounce is the part worth planning around, because it puts the second half and the end of the game close to Asr and, depending on the month, not far off Maghrib once you have walked out with 100,000 other people.

How should I plan Grand Final day?
Eat before, pray inside, eat again after. The ground has a real prayer room with wudu facilities, so praying at the MCG is a reasonable plan rather than a compromise, and the halal food problem is better solved on either side of the game where you have actual choice.
A workable shape for the day: arrive via Jolimont, eat in Richmond beforehand if you are early, use the Level B1 room at a break rather than at the siren, and walk out towards Richmond station and Bridge Road afterwards.
