What Is HalalHQ? Muslims in Australia Finding and Buying From Each Other
Halal information is scattered and a lot of great Muslim businesses are hard to find. HalalHQ brings them into one place, so more of what our community spends stays in our community.

What Is HalalHQ?
HalalHQ is an Australian platform where Muslims find halal food, products, mosques and services, and buy directly from Muslim businesses and home kitchens. At its heart is the question every Muslim asks before eating out, "is this halal?", answered with the evidence behind it rather than a guess. More than 25,000 people used it in September 2026, by our own analytics.
What Does Keeping Money in the Community Mean?
It means that when a Muslim family spends, more of that money reaches another Muslim family's business, which then spends it again locally. Nobody pays more or settles for less: it is simply easier to choose a business from your own community once you know it exists. Here is what that looks like.

A family in the north orders nasi lemak for Friday dinner from a home cook.
Santai Mates, a home kitchen

With what she earns, the cook buys henna cones for Eid from a sister who makes them.
Zafira Couture, on the Souq

That sister’s family orders a tray of biryani for a weekend gathering.
Legendary Halal Biryani, a home kitchen
And round it goes. The three businesses are real HalalHQ sellers; the chain is an example. The 2021 Census counted 813,392 Muslims in Australia, about 3.2 per cent of the population (ABS), so everyday spending like this adds up.
Why Do Muslim Businesses in Australia Need This?
Because many of them are small, home-based or new, and the usual ways of being found online were not built for them. A home cook selling biryani on weekends or a modest fashion label run from a spare room often relies on a Facebook group, a WhatsApp broadcast and loyal regulars.
On HalalHQ, halal status is the first thing on every listing, and the tools to take orders, payments and pickups are there for a business of any size.

That works until you want to reach the family two suburbs away who would happily buy from you, if only they knew you existed.

What Can You Find on HalalHQ?
You can find halal restaurants, halal grocery products, mosques, events, services and home kitchens across Australia. Every restaurant and product shows its halal status and the source behind it, and where the answer is unclear, we say so rather than guess.
What Is the Souq on HalalHQ?
The Souq is HalalHQ's marketplace, where Muslim businesses sell products and community members sell preloved items to each other. Sellers get their own storefront and online payments, and buyers can shop from several sellers in one cart. These are some of the people behind it.

How Does HalalHQ Make Money?
HalalHQ earns a commission on orders placed through the Souq and the home kitchens, and from businesses that pay to be featured. We do not run third-party advertising networks, so we only do well when the businesses on HalalHQ do well.
Finding halal food, products, mosques and prayer times is free, and worship features such as prayer times, Qibla and the Quran will always stay free. As HalalHQ grows, we also intend to put part of what we earn back into the community. Here is how we plan to do that.
Did this help? Keep HalalHQ free
HalalHQ is independently built and free for the whole community, with no ads and nothing behind a paywall. If this saved you a phone call or a doubtful meal, a small contribution helps cover the servers and data that keep it running.
How Can You Help Build It?
The easiest way to help is to choose a business from the community the next time you buy something you were going to buy anyway. Every order, review and listing makes HalalHQ more useful for the next person.
- Next time you eat out or order in, check HalalHQ first and choose a business from the community when you can.
- Leave an honest review after you order. It is the single biggest help to a new kitchen or seller.
- Add a halal place or product we are missing, or a photo of an ingredient label.
- Tell a home cook or small business you know that they can sell on HalalHQ.
- List the things your family no longer needs in the Souq community section.

Why sell on HalalHQFrequently Asked Questions
Is HalalHQ free to use?
Yes. Searching for halal food, products, mosques, prayer times and services is free, and so is creating an account. You only pay when you buy something from a seller or order from a kitchen, and that money goes to them, less our commission.
Does HalalHQ certify restaurants or products as halal?
No. HalalHQ is not a halal certifier. We show the halal status of each place or product along with where that information came from, such as a certifier, the business itself or the maker, so you can judge it for yourself.
Is HalalHQ only for Muslims?
No. Anyone can use HalalHQ, and many people use it to find halal food for Muslim friends, family or colleagues. It is built around the needs of the Muslim community in Australia, which is why halal status sits at the centre of every listing.
Which parts of Australia does HalalHQ cover?
The directory of halal restaurants, products, mosques and services covers all of Australia. Ordering from home kitchens started in parts of Melbourne and is growing suburb by suburb. The Souq ships products to buyers across Australia, depending on each seller.
How can I sell on HalalHQ?
Products can be listed on the Souq by registering as a seller, and community members can list preloved items for sale or for free. Home cooks and restaurants who want to take orders through HalalHQ can get in touch with us and we will help set up the menu, payments and pickup or delivery.
Does HalalHQ show third-party ads?
No. We do not run advertising networks on HalalHQ. We earn from a commission on orders and from businesses that pay to be featured, which keeps the money we make tied to helping businesses in the community grow.
Who runs HalalHQ?
HalalHQ is an Australian company based in Melbourne, run by Muslims for the Muslim community. It is built and maintained here, and the halal information on it is gathered and checked by our own team.
