Butanes

E943 is the grouping for butane (E943a) and isobutane (E943b), petroleum-derived propellant gases used in aerosol food sprays such as cooking-oil sprays. As synthetic gases with no animal or alcoholic source, they are halal. No recognised halal authority in our corpus publishes a separate ruling on the grouping code. E943 is halal.
